The broker works behind the scenes to solve problems, and support, supervise and assist the agents affiliated with the brokerage. In the majority of real estate transactions, the consumer only works with the real estate agent and not the broker. Many brokers have licensed real estate salespeople, commonly known as real estate agents, who act on behalf of the broker in helping consumers buy, sell, or lease property.Īll brokerage firms are required to have a responsible or a qualifying broker. Real Estate Brokerage Generally SpeakingĪs a general rule, only licensed real estate brokers can receive a fee to help consumers buy, sell, or lease property. Instead, each broker is free to decide which of these types of agency to offer. Note that real estate brokers are not required to offer all of the brokerage relationships described below.
